72nd Annual Golden Globes: Fashion Recap

This past week while I was watching the NFL Playoffs, I’m sure many of y’all were tuned into the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards.

For those who don’t know, the Golden Globe Awards are given to recognize those hard working Hollywood folks for excellence in film and television. While I enjoy award shows, I watch for the FASHION and the ladies on the red carpet looked amazing this year!

Kate Hudson in Versace

Now I LIVE for an amazing white gown so, I’m quite critical of any white dress I come across. Kate Hudson STUNNED in the figure hugging Versace ensemble with side cutouts and jeweled straps. She decided to go with sleek hair and no fuss makeup and the mother of two looked absolutely amazing. Best Dressed. Hands down.

Lorde in Narciso Rodriguez

Lorde is a funky, cool kinda girl so, her custom suit and crop top was almost predictable but, nonetheless gorgeous. She opted for less dramatic makeup and even pulled out the red lipstick paired with beautiful Neil Lane diamonds, she definitely earns a spot on the best dressed list.

Kate Beckinsale in Elie Saab Couture

Kate, a presenter for the night, wowed in a sparkly Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture Collection piece. The sparkly bodice with flowing skirt was complimented by a high bun and beautifully minimal makeup. It’s a gorgeous dress but, the styling and Kate’s gorgeous smile is what earned her a spot on the best dressed list.

As many stunning ensembles as there were on the red carpet, there were also some tragedies. I will not highlight them all but, one gown stood out to me. Keira Knightley in Chanel. When Knightley spoke to Ryan Seacrest, she was quoted saying, “Apparently, it took 30 people to make this dress in a week.” Now, for a dress by Chanel, made by 30 people in a week, how is this an acceptable finished product? The floor length dress has layers of white lace around the hem and the neckline and the middle of the dress is printed with butterflies and bugs. Being pregnant is not an excuse to wear this dress out in public. Try again.

June 25, 2014

Hey bloggers!

It has been about a month since I wrote! Oh no!

So, I work as an Inventory Specialist for the U.S. Department of Transportation and we are back doing Physical Inventory! It is a strenous process and takes a lot of time out of my day so, I haven’t been writing as much! I did want to blog about my favorite looks from this past weekends Daytime Emmys!

The Daytime Emmy Awards is an awards show that recognizes great daytime television programming in America. The 2014 Daytime Emmy Awards was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

I absolutely love the show Fashion Police on E! so, I’m gonna rank my favorites and least favorites of the night!

Best Dressed:

• Giuliana Rancic- She wore a fabulous white Badgley Mischka floor-length dress with gold accents around the halter neckline. Personally, I am a sucker for a white dress and I am a sucker for Badgley Mischka designs so, I may be a little bias. Although she was hammered in the news for her super thin figure, the dress fit her well and from pictures you can tell she felt great in it! Here is a link to a picture of her dress posted on eonline.com including an article on her winning the 2014 Daytime Emmy’s Fan Favorite Award!

• Lisa LoCicero- She was a knockout in a red David Meister dress and accented the beautiful color with gold Christian Louboutin heels and gold clutch and a simple updo. Here is a link to picture where you can really see the color pop!

Worst Dressed

• Jessica Collins- She sported a curve-hugging, full-on cleavage exposing black Roberto Cavalli dress with a super strange lip color (some pictures it looks red and some pictures it looks pink) and slicked back hair style. While I LOVED the back of the dress, the look felt forced and not right. She’s a beautiful woman; she just didn’t look that way at the Daytime Emmy’s. Here is a link to the dress.

• Katherine Kelly Lang wore a Ines Di Santo design and I have to say, it is just not flattering. One it is almost a red mini dress covered in an extra-large black dolly. She is an older woman and this dress just ages her even more. Not a great choice and her half-up, partially curled ‘do did not contribute positively to the ensemble either. Her is a link to the not so fabulous dress choice.

The fashion at the 2014 Daytime Emmy’s was not all that but, there’s always next year!

P.S. I don’t own any of the images posted in this blog today 🙂
